Wesley’s 8 Year-Old Edit — Two Princes

I had so much fun snowboarding in Colorado! Sometimes I get frustrated that I have to wait for someone to set up for a camera shot — because I really just want to be free and fly down the mountain! But it’s worth it to get to see the edits all put together. I’m a lucky kid to get to snowboard so much and to have family that puts all of this together for me! Make sure to click on the high definition button — it looks so much clearer that way!

Wesley recently took 3rd place in Slopestyle at the Big Nut Open, despite competing with a sprained left ankle, and received the “Pint Size Ripper” Award for Best Grom at the Transworld TransAm for the 2nd year in a row. Congrats, Wes!!!

Wesley has been spinning jumps since he was a toddler, but he has trouble getting enough to speed to spin massive jumps and still clear the knuckle for a safe landing. Sometimes his 50 pound size makes it impossible… Wesley has no concept of “impossible” though…

My mom was a little slow getting all this footage mixed together (my little sister and little brother were born in the last couple years and things got crazy at our house — I’m a proud big brother, by the way)… hardway 360s are my favorite trick I learned that year. It was awesome fun getting to shred so much in Colorado (thanks to Boulder Gear for sponsoring my trips out there!) though I love riding park at my home mountain, Tyrol Basin, too!

7 Year-Old Wesley Makes the National Podium — Twice!

7 year-old Wesley traveled from his home in the Midwest, to Colorado, and took 2nd place Nationally in Boardercross and 3rd Place Nationally in Slopestyle, in the Spring of 2014. Most surprising was his Boardercross finish… Wes is a freestyle rider and uses a freestyle board to race. He entered Boardercross for fun and ended up with a silver medal! He even bested the gold medalist in the semifinal, but ultimately lost by tenths of a second in the final! It was an exciting race.

In the days leading up to Slopestyle, Wesley practiced only the big jump line… when the event started, they closed off the big jump line and told him he had to compete on the smaller course because of his age. He was upset that he couldn’t do the big air jumps, and had to compete on a course he had never practiced… but he was really happy to earn a bronze medal!

Also in Colorado, Wesley got to ride barn rails in his friend Red’s backyard, ride with pros Blake Axelson and Redmond Gerard, and hang out on the mountain with his riding buddy Korey (they’ve snowboarded and skated together since they were toddlers).
