My mom was a little slow getting all this footage mixed together (my little sister and little brother were born in the last couple years and things got crazy at our house — I’m a proud big brother, by the way)… hardway 360s are my favorite trick I learned that year. It was awesome fun getting to shred so much in Colorado (thanks to Boulder Gear for sponsoring my trips out there!) though I love riding park at my home mountain, Tyrol Basin, too!

7 year-old Wesley traveled from his home in the Midwest, to Colorado, and took 2nd place Nationally in Boardercross and 3rd Place Nationally in Slopestyle, in the Spring of 2014. Most surprising was his Boardercross finish… Wes is a freestyle rider and uses a freestyle board to race. He entered Boardercross for fun and ended up with a silver medal! He even bested the gold medalist in the semifinal, but ultimately lost by tenths of a second in the final! It was an exciting race.
In the days leading up to Slopestyle, Wesley practiced only the big jump line… when the event started, they closed off the big jump line and told him he had to compete on the smaller course because of his age. He was upset that he couldn’t do the big air jumps, and had to compete on a course he had never practiced… but he was really happy to earn a bronze medal!
Also in Colorado, Wesley got to ride barn rails in his friend Red’s backyard, ride with pros Blake Axelson and Redmond Gerard, and hang out on the mountain with his riding buddy Korey (they’ve snowboarded and skated together since they were toddlers).

Seven year-old Wesley made it to the finals of the Transworld TransAm open class amateur snowboarding competition last Saturday and went on to earn the “Pint Size Ripper” award…
Wesley would like to thank his mom for having a driver’s license, hauling him, his gear, and his three siblings all over the US, and enduring frequent arctic temperatures. Being a Shred Mom is not for the faint of heart. He also wants to thank his mom for not having heart attacks during his events. He knows she worries about how small he is and how big he goes. Pretty much… Wesley loves his mom.

Wesley has been in Colorado practicing this spring and he was super stoked to get to meet Red (www.SeeRedShred.com) and hang out with him for the day. Copper Mountain captured the groms’ fun on film and Transworld Snowboarding put the edit up on their site. Check it out!
